After playing “The Middle,” so many times, I kept getting asked if I knew this song. I had the pleasure of seeing Mayday Parade at Sad Summer Music Fest with my cousin in 2019, and they covered this song. It was amazing because everyone knew at least one line of the song. Usually the line, “I’m Mr. Brightside.” It’s still a fun song to do, because it’s not a challenge vocally, but it’s fun to sing and see people sing to it. I mention “lightbulb moments’ for the audience a lot, because it’s so fun to see people think “Hey! I know this song! I Love it!” And get excited about me playing. It’s an unforgettable connection, because every time I see someone new have that moment.
